Let’s be real: the birth of a child is one of the most incredible things you will ever experience. From that moment on you, and your partner, will be changed forever.
We would be honored to document this beautiful change. Much like a wedding, the birth of your child happens so fast, and often, you miss things. We make it our mission to preserve every moment of your child’s birth so that you can relive them over and over (and over and over) through a beautiful photographic record.
Once you hire us to capture your birth, we are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - ready to photograph your newest arrival. We strive for the utmost in creative and sensitive birth documentation. We get so much joy in capturing your journey into parenthood and older children meeting their new siblings. We also photograph many other important milestones including taking your new baby home from the hospital or, in the case of adoption or surrogacy, capturing a child’s special entrance into your family.

WHY HIRE A BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHER?
The birth of your child is one of the most important and miraculous days of your life and every moment is incredible. Hiring a professional photographer will ensure that this special time is documented forever. Sometimes it can be a blur of intense emotion and experiences, this gives you the chance to look back on it all with new eyes. Allowing us to photograph your birth will also free up your partner and/or other family members and allow them to take a more active role in supporting you during your labor.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE STYLE OF YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY?
Birth photography is without a doubt documentary photography at its finest. No two births are ever the same and we are there to document your experience in a very discreet, intimate, and artistic way. Your birth journey is unique to you and we try to capture that. As mothers ourselves as well we try to keep in mind the special moments we would have hated to miss. Check out our birth section for lots of images of births we have captured.
WILL I GET TO MEET YOU BEFORE MY BIRTH?
Absolutely! We can talk on the phone and also schedule a consultation with every client to discuss what the experience will be like, answer any questions you may have, and discuss preferences on what you do and do not want photographed. Whatever you need to feel most comfortable.
WHEN DO YOU COME TO MY BIRTH?
We usually join you as soon as you are in active labor. If you are having a hospital birth, we will typically join you once you are admitted and have a room. Because this is Los Angeles, we like to keep in touch as we would much rather be at a birth early and take tons of laboring photographs than get there late. As a result we try to typically be there several hours before the baby arrives.
HOW LONG DO YOU STAY?
We will be there as long as it takes. We typically stay a few hours after the baby has arrived to capture all of the first moments of your baby's life; those are always the most special.
WHAT IS THE LONGEST BIRTH YOU HAVE EVER ATTENDED?
The longest birth we attended was a VBAC and I was at the hospital with the family for 28 hours and returned the next day for more family photographs.
WHAT IF I HAVE A CESAREAN BIRTH?
So far, every cesarean we have attended, we have been able to photograph. (knock on wood!) We typically scrub in with your partner and stand behind the curtain capturing every moment from the mom's first glance to your partner’s first cuddle; all photographed in the operating room. That being said, it depends on the hospital. Some hospitals unfortunately don’t allow anyone in the operating room anymore. HOW MANY BIRTHS DO YOU ACCEPT A MONTH?
We do have a backup photographer on call which allows us to comfortably accept up to three births a month.
WHAT IF I ONLY WANT YOU TO COME AFTER THE BABY IS BORN?
Totally fine too and a popular option - we have a special package for that! Inquire or give us a call and we can give you all the details.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK?
As soon as you know you want your birth photographed, please call! Since we are only able to take a limited amount of clients each month, the sooner you book, the better!
WHAT IF I DON’T WANT TO SHARE MY IMAGES ON YOUR WEBSITE?
No problem at all. Many of our clients want to keep their images private and we 100% respect that and would always ask you for permission. Your comfort is the most important thing to us.
WILL YOU MAKE A BABY BOOK FOR ME OF MY BIRTH PHOTOS?
You bet! Since we are a full service boutique we make a lot of custom products for clients and birth albums are very popular - you choose your favorite images from your birth and we custom design an album for you to have and look at with your baby for years to come!
